Job Description

Cayuga Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Supervisor to oversee laboratory personnel, implement processes, and ensure accurate and timely test results. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical technology and experience in laboratory management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise laboratory personnel to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance
  • Implement new tests and projects, and analyze and test specimens
  • Utilize complex information systems and middleware to collect and interpret data
  • Maintain adequate inventory and conserve resources
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment
  • Coordinate staff training, competencies, and performance reviews
  • Maintain a compliant environment, including adherence to lab and hospital procedures, NYS, TJC, HIPAA standards, and infection control/safety guidelines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) and registered as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist by ASCP or equivalent
  • Licensure: Meets NYS Department of Health requirements and is currently licensed as a Clinical Lab Scientist
  • Previous hospital laboratory experience is preferred

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail is preferred
  • Good written and oral communication skills preferred
  • Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes

Physical Requirements:

  • May require light lifting and carrying, including boxes, equipment, stooping, and kneeling
  • Must be physically able to operate automation used in the job
