Boston, Massachusetts, United States Arrowstreet Capital Full time

Overview of the Position

We are seeking a proactive Python/Cloud engineer to join our Infrastructure/Cloud team, dedicated to facilitating Public Cloud AWS Services for Arrowstreet's innovative IT platform.

Key Responsibilities

This position encompasses:

  • Serving as a subject matter expert on the Python stack for the Cloud/Infrastructure team, while actively enhancing the team's skills and capabilities in this domain.
  • Embracing and embodying the team's philosophy of "Delivery as/with code by design."
  • Enhancing the production and security framework of the Cloud/Infrastructure landscape by collaboratively designing and implementing new structures to achieve this objective.
  • Contributing to the Cloud team by identifying use cases for leveraging AWS Public Cloud based on established principles (as opposed to simple migration).
  • Automating and securely exposing AWS Services for our AWS Organization to align with the ASC Ecosystem (including certain integrations) and security measures.
  • Participating in the "APIzation" of infrastructure components to facilitate Infrastructure as Code (IAC) Cloud CI/CD deployment.
  • Building and nurturing effective partnerships with key cross-functional leaders and team members. Strong leadership and the ability to unite teams are essential for this role.
  • This role emphasizes delivering transformation and automation through close collaboration with Application teams across the IT organization. It drives innovation across teams and offers mentorship to IT team members (particularly in Python) with a focus on continuous long-term enhancement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Computer Engineering or a related field; a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Experience in financial services is advantageous.
  • Strong software engineering foundation with over 5 years of experience in developing enterprise-level Python products/event-driven solutions, including modern concepts such as OOP, TDD, containerization, and microservices.
  • 1-2 years of experience in developing and maintaining cloud automation tools (preferably AWS, utilizing the boto3 Python library; experience with Azure as Code is a plus).
  • Demonstrated success in building/designing Python frameworks/applications.
  • Proven experience in creating DevOps APIs to support the "Infrastructure as Code" approach within a CI/CD context, with solid expertise in Python/Flask/FastAPI/Swagger and CI/CD tools (Git/Gitlab/Github/Gitlab CI/Jenkins).
  • Daily experience with Linux-based operating systems.
  • Experience working within Kanban or Agile Scrum methodologies.
  • A strong enthusiasm for technology, a desire to acquire new skills, and the ability to advocate for best practices.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, with the capacity to translate technical guidance into practical solutions.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive, proactive, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven capability to investigate complex issues across various technologies and drive them to resolution.
  • Ability to engage with vendors, management, and staff at all organizational levels.

We foster a friendly, team-oriented environment and place a high emphasis on professionalism, attitude, and initiative.
