Position Overview

SAIC is looking for a Systems Engineer/Architect with a strong background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) specifically within the realm of Defense and National Security Space systems. This role is integral to our Horizon 2 program, which supports critical initiatives in space security.

The Horizon Program is dedicated to providing expert guidance to Government organizations, focusing on space systems and their architectural frameworks. Our team excels in delivering systems engineering and architectural expertise, ensuring the protection and defense of the Nation's vital space assets. We play a crucial role in advising and assisting the Government with their architectural strategies and comprehensive systems engineering processes, which are essential for meeting the needs of military operations.

In this role, you will leverage your systems engineering and architectural experience, applying MBSE methodologies to create analytical and solution-oriented offerings that effectively support our clients. Your expertise in systems engineering processes, methodologies, tools, SysML, and program roles will be pivotal in developing architectural roadmaps. You will engage in continuous learning and improvement of our existing architectures to incorporate stakeholder feedback and formal requirements, facilitating discussions on necessary architectural evolutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage regularly with US Space Force Commands, mission partner agencies, and higher headquarters to deliver robust architectural solutions, generate and document requirements, structures, behaviors, and conduct parametric analyses.
  • Participate in the development and management of changes to enterprise and systems models, including conducting impact assessments based on environmental changes.
  • Support trade studies, sensitivity analyses, optimization studies, performance assessments, and operational analysis activities, including mission analysis and contributions to CONOPS development.
  • Prepare and present concepts, architectures, designs, and performance evaluations to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree):
    • Expertise in systems engineering and architecture, including familiarity with Department of Defense modeling schemes and documentation standards.
    • Proficient in Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and modeling tools (e.g., Rhapsody, Cameo/Magic Draw, SparxEA).
    • Experience with analysis and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, AGI/STK, Python).
    • Familiarity with the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) toolset.
  • Must possess an in-scope security background investigation (T5 or SSBI), adjudicated for SCI eligibility, and enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable).
  • Willingness to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Programs, and consent to a Polygraph examination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field.
  • Professional certifications such as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) Certification and/or OMG Certified System Modeling Professional (OSCMP) Certification.
  • Knowledge of DODI and JCIDS processes.
  • Experience working with or for the Intelligence Community.
  • Background in National Security Space and/or the Space Control mission area.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. This estimate reflects the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
