Job Summary

The City of Farmington is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Parks Maintenance Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, horticulture, and operations of our parks and recreational facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all phases of maintenance, horticulture, and program support for the parks operation section.
  • Supervise and train staff, including maintenance workers, horticultural specialists, and administrative personnel.
  • Develop and implement budgets, purchasing plans, and personnel policies for the parks operation section.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and health standards, and enforce policies and regulations as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Turf Management, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Seven years of increasingly responsible experience in parks maintenance or construction trades, with at least three years of first-level supervisory experience.
  • Ability to obtain a public applicator license for pesticides/herbicides issued by the New Mexico Department of Agriculture within six months of employment.
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in grounds maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of turf management, park horticulture, and related materials, equipment, and practices.
Working Conditions

The Executive Parks Maintenance Manager will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and physical demands. The position requires the ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
