Parks Foreman

The City of Farmington is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Parks Foreman to join our team. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation Department, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of our parks, grounds, and recreation facilities.

• Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
• Perform a variety of administrative, supervisory, and skilled tasks, including maintenance and repair of buildings, scoreboards, grounds, parks, open spaces, and recreation structures.
• Work under the administrative supervision of the Parks Superintendent or Assistant Sports Turf Superintendent.
• Manage sports irrigation systems, review and initiate changes as necessary.
• Identify turf pests and institute turf grass maintenance and best practices for treatment.
• Assist in setting up and taking down equipment for various park and recreation programs, prepares facilities for park for special events and recreation program use.
• Opens and closes, locks and unlocks City facilities as needed.

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and have a sports turf degree, approved certifications as they relate to this position, and/or educational equivalent and history in a related field.
• Three to five years supervisory experience.
• Advanced knowledge of agronomy and environmental turf grass management practices including pest/weed management, an understanding of soil chemistry, fertilizers, and chemicals.
• Valid driver's license with CDL endorsement, with acceptable driving record for past three years, or ability to obtain CDL within a reasonable amount of time into the position.

The work environment is usually loud, and the employee is frequently exposed to wet and hot and cold weather conditions, traffic, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
