Position Overview

The Kentucky Personnel Cabinet is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Attorney III to join our dedicated team. This role is integral to providing comprehensive legal support to various agencies within the Cabinet, focusing on complex legal matters that require in-depth research and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage intricate legal issues pertaining to compliance with wage and hour laws and Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) regulations.
  • Conduct thorough research and prepare legal documents for administrative and court proceedings.
  • Represent the Cabinet in hearings and trials with minimal supervision, effectively arguing complex cases.
  • Analyze legal violations and provide strategic recommendations based on findings.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with colleagues on multifaceted legal challenges.
  • Review and respond to public records requests in accordance with legal standards.
  • Evaluate Cabinet policies for legal compliance and suggest necessary amendments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Cabinet's mission.
Qualifications

Education: Relevant legal education as per special requirements.

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as a licensed attorney in the legal field.

Licensure: Must be in good standing with the Kentucky Bar Association or comply with relevant Supreme Court rules.

Working Environment

This position involves working in both office and courtroom settings, with travel as a necessary component of the role. The successful candidate will be committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of sensitive information throughout their employment.
