Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Prepared Foods Team Lead to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our Prepared Foods department, you will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Team Leader: Provide support to the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects.
  • Lead and Develop Team Members: Lead and develop Team Members to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
  • Develop and Maintain Store Layout: Develop and maintain creative store layout and product merchandising.
  • Work with Vendors: Maintain good vendor relationships, develop new vendor relations, and ensure all paperwork is properly submitted for vendor processing.
  • Resolve Team Concerns: Work with the Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues.
  • Function as Point Person: Function as point person and departmental person in charge in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Set and Achieve Standards: Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution.
  • Foster a Positive Environment: Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Communicate and Model WFM Vision: Consistently communicate and model WFM vision and goals.
  • Maintain Awareness of Customer Flows: Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs and direct Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
  • Select, Train, and Develop Team Members: Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.

Experience
  • 18+ Months Retail Experience: 18+ months retail Team Member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Standing/Walking: In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand Use: Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Motions: Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Exposure to Chemicals: Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to Temperature: Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to Work in Wet and Dry Conditions: Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to Work a Flexible Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to Use Tools and Equipment: Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • May Require Use of Ladders: May require use of ladders.
