Perfusion Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Perfusion Technician to join our team at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health. As a Perfusion Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our cardiac surgery team by expediting patient care and room turnover times. You will work closely with our Perfusionists to assemble and maintain rotating heart-lung machines, manage cell saver machine cleaning and disinfection, and perform various environmental and supply chain functions.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Perfusionists with the assembly and maintenance of rotating heart-lung machines
- Manage cell saver machine cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance
- Perform various environmental and supply chain functions, including the operation of cell saver equipment
- Assist with patient care and room turnover times
- Prepare supply carts for procedures and set up, operate, document, and takedown of Cell Saver machines
- Perform ABGs (arterial blood gas) as needed and serve as lab runner
- Assist with equipment issues intra-case and prepare IABP (intra-aortic balloon pump) console
- Perform weekly Quality Assurance/Control on heparin monitoring system and order supplies and medications
- Assist with written and electronic documentation and Quality Assurance/Control
- Periodically outdate and re-order disposable supplies and assist in quarterly cleaning and disinfection of heater/coolers under FDA regulations
- High school diploma
- 1 year of healthcare experience preferred
- Ability to anticipate, prioritize, and coordinate work in a high-stress environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- BLS Certification within four (4) weeks of hire date
- Credentialing as a Cell Saver operator required within 3 months
- Currently registered in the state of New Hampshire as a Medical Technician
