Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Perfusionist to join our team at 223 Aurora Medical Group, Inc. as a Perfusion Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe and effective perfusion services during open-heart procedures and liver transplants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate extra-corporeal perfusion equipment during open-heart procedures and liver transplants.
  • Provide long-term cardiac and/or respiratory support for compromised patients via ECMO support or centrifugal ventricular support.
  • Perform short-term cardiopulmonary support during open heart procedures.
  • Administer rapid infusion, cardioplegia, hemoconcentration, hemodiafiltration, and modified ultrafiltration.
  • Stand by during certain catherization lab procedures and surgical procedures.
  • Ensure proper assembly, set up, and priming of all perfusion equipment for use in various environments.
  • Procure platelet gel according to industry standards.
Requirements
  • Perfusionist license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) certification issued by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or equivalent knowledge.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in pumping perfusion cases.
Working Conditions

The Perfusion Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating volumes and program needs. The schedule will vary based on departmental needs and may include call, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.

The Perfusion Specialist must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. The position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines and may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids.
