Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, organize, and execute Therapeutic Recreation initiatives that cater to the assessed needs and interests of residents, reflecting their cultural backgrounds and personal histories.

• Conduct thorough assessments of residents upon admission and annually to identify their unique challenges and interests.

• Formulate individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive assessments, ensuring that care planning is meticulously documented.

• Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate Therapeutic Recreation activities that address the specific needs and preferences of residents.

• Maintain accurate documentation of residents' progress, including quarterly updates and care plans.

• Develop and implement a monthly calendar of therapeutic and leisure activities for residents, ensuring a diverse range of options.

• Coordinate logistics for unit events, including outings and celebrations, while managing necessary supplies and resources.

• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to training sessions as required.

• Oversee and evaluate the contributions of Activity Therapists, interns, or volunteers involved in program delivery.

• Engage in interdisciplinary care planning meetings, ensuring comprehensive documentation of care processes.

• Contribute to the enhancement of departmental policies and procedures through collaborative committee work.

• Uphold all facility protocols related to safety, pain management, and infection control.

• Maintain open communication regarding program participation and community feedback through regular meetings with residents and staff.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, supplemented by coursework in recreation, physical education, or related fields, along with experience in therapeutic settings.

• Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) is preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality recreational therapy services.
