Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineer to join our growing interconnection team. As a key member of our team, you will play a lead role in our Transmission Prospecting campaigns and work closely with internal stakeholders to identify potential PV sites, define prospecting strategy, and perform transmission analysis for our projects.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as regional Planning Engineer for multiple ISO territories
- Provide guidance to developers on navigating the Transmission network to identify system capacity and optimal locations to Interconnect projects
- Develop Transmission Network Models using PSSE, TARA, or other similar tools
- Perform Transmission System analysis such as Power Flow, Stability, Reactive Power Compensation, etc.
- Evaluate utility impact studies and challenge study methodology where appropriate
- Assist project developers in evaluating potential Project sites to determine project feasibility and potential network upgrades and cost
- 3+ years of Power Engineering Experience with a focus on Transmission Planning
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or relevant study; MS preferred
- Strong understanding of Transmission System impacts associated with the interconnection of distributed energy resources (DER) and knowledge of engineering solutions to mitigate those issues
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives in a fast-paced and challenging team-based multi-stakeholder environment
- Experience with power systems modeling software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF, SKM/ETAP, Aspen, etc.
