ABOUT YOU

As a Maritime Security Officer Trainee (Bargaining Unit, Local Union No. 170), you are committed to protecting life and property. You demonstrate a strong dedication to security, confidently enforcing regulations and proactively preventing incidents. With sharp observation skills and effective communication abilities, you maintain a vigilant oversight of Massport facilities, ensuring the safety of all individuals entering and exiting. By meticulously documenting activities and adhering to protocols, you contribute to the smooth operation of the port while upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

What you will do:
  • Enforce Massport's regulations, challenge suspicious individuals, and remove unauthorized persons from Massport property to ensure security.
  • Report hazards and uphold a safe environment.
  • Monitor all individuals and vehicles entering and exiting Massport property, verifying identities and enforcing entrance criteria.
  • Conduct regular patrols on foot, bike, or in vehicles, checking gates, doors, perimeter fencing, vessel docks, berth areas, and issuing citations for improperly parked vehicles.
WHAT YOU OFFER

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of the Certified MPTC Recruit Officer Course, the Massachusetts State Police SSPO Academy in New Braintree MA, or the Massachusetts Bridge Academy (MPTC) to qualify for POST certification, with an exception for out-of-state academy graduates who require 2 years of full-time law enforcement experience for a permanent MPTC exemption.
  • Valid and current driver's license.
