Role Overview:
At Novelis – Guthrie, KY, we are in search of an Operations Technician specializing in Recycling to become part of our newly established expansion project in Guthrie, KY. We seek individuals eager to merge their expertise with our capabilities to foster our ongoing success. The starting compensation is $26.15.
Typical Work Schedule:
While shift patterns may differ, Operations Technicians will engage in rotating 12-hour shifts alternating between day and night throughout the month. Our current shift model follows a 2,2,3 rotation, allowing for every other weekend off and time off during the week to promote a healthier work/life balance. Overtime opportunities may be available on a voluntary basis or scheduled according to business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform tasks in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
Identify and address safety hazards in all job aspects and effectively communicate risks and exposures to colleagues.
Make informed product and process decisions based on graphical and statistical data.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
Execute assigned preventative maintenance duties.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and propose innovative ideas.
Engage in learning and development within a team setting.
Guide and mentor fellow Operators.
Utilize email for effective communication across various departments and locations.
Provide and receive constructive feedback in an open, honest, and respectful manner.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED is required. An Associate degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to safety; our priority is ensuring all employees return home safely each day.
A minimum of four years of relevant work experience is required.
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Proven critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with software applications, including email.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in temperatures exceeding 80°F and below 60°F.
Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Capability to climb stairs and ladders.
Flexibility to bend, twist, and kneel, sometimes in confined spaces.
Willingness to work 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 operational environment.
Must meet minimum criteria for operating overhead cranes and mobile equipment, including annual physical and vision assessments.
