Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified Engineer to undertake a comprehensive engineering role that encompasses substantial interaction with suppliers and customers, as well as component and system-level engineering evaluations and testing support throughout the lifecycle of marine power systems, including motors, generators, and gas turbine enclosures.

Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting thorough reviews and independent validations of Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics/Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, and Mechanical Packaging performed by other engineers.
  • Assessing and recommending design strategies to fulfill production requirements for new or enhanced products, while also exploring solutions to product or process challenges.
  • Working autonomously while utilizing expert insights from colleagues to make informed decisions on complex engineering matters.
  • Providing on-site support for qualification testing of large motors at designated testing facilities.
  • Engaging in vendor visits to resolve issues and monitor progress on component-level tasks.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams to successfully complete technical projects within established timelines and budgets.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with engineering software tools such as ANSYS, Unigraphics/NX, Solidworks/Creo, Matlab, Simulink, Flux, and SPEED.
  • Must possess a Secret level clearance and be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with U.S. military program execution.
  • Knowledge of industrial and military design standards.
  • Background in manufacturing electric machines, electric motor/drive systems, or other rotating equipment.
  • Specific experience with large (1MW+) permanent magnet electric machines.
