Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Food Service Assistant to join our team at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Boston. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, preparing and serving food, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service to a diverse population of guests, including patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Prepare and serve food according to standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Operate a cash register and handle money, including processing debit/credit card transactions and handling cash and credit transactions.
  • Assist in training new staff members and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels, including ordering and stocking supplies as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including participating in special projects and initiatives.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of cash handling experience in a food service or retail setting preferred.
  • One year of previous food service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, preferred.
  • ServSafe Food Handlers certification preferred.
Skills
  • Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule and/or assignments to meet the needs of the job.
  • High level of customer service skills through communication and appropriate body language.
  • Ability to work a cash register and handle money.
  • Effective verbal, electronic, and written communications skills using the English language.
  • Maintain variable work schedule to meet department needs, including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Basic computer skills or ability to learn.
  • Time management and punctuality.
