Compensation:
  • Pay range: $48,000-$53,000/yr.; would be prorated for less than full-time
  • Benefits: For employees contracted for 30 hours per week or more, Thomas MacLaren School pays for 100% of the employee's base insurance premiums (Health, Dental, Vision, Long-term and Short-term disability, Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance, and Life insurance) for the base level coverages. No benefits are provided to employees contracted for less than 30 hours per week.


General Purpose: To oversee student culture and discipline for the Lower School

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build the school culture
  • Participate fully in the community of learners
  • Maintain student discipline through administering the school discipline policies
  • Communicate with parents in a timely fashion about matters of discipline and attendance
  • Lead parent meetings to address discipline and/or behavioral concerns
  • Coordinate with other faculty and staff for student support
  • Enforce the uniform policy and dress code
  • Lead classroom meetings with students (Morning Circle, problem-solving, grace and courtesy, MacLaren culture and expectations) in coordination with the leadership team
  • Address disciplinary conduct with respect, kindness, and firmness
  • Attend regular meetings with other deans and school leaders
  • Log and maintain student discipline records daily and on regular cycles (e.g., monthly parent discipline reports and regular attendance communications)
  • Solve problems informally and diplomatically
  • Participate in the student discipline appeal process, as appropriate under policy
  • Properly handle reports of bullying, harassment, and abuse
  • Oversight of areas of school culture, depending on caseload
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School


Minimum Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Experience: Demonstrated ability to serve well as Thomas MacLaren teacher. Teaching License not required. Applicants must hold either
  • BA in Elementary Education or
  • PRAXIS in Elementary Education completed within first year of employment
