Position Overview:
This role involves assisting in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of Transmission Lines within the Eversource Energy framework. The position demands a solid understanding of engineering principles, relevant design codes, and applicable software tools.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be tasked with:

  • Conducting design and analysis for both underground and overhead transmission lines.
  • Creating designs for supporting structures and foundations.
  • Performing clearance evaluations and reviewing inspection reports.
  • Providing support for Drone, Vault, and Groundline operations.
  • Preparing documentation for regulatory and siting agencies, including technical drawings and reports.
  • Representing the Transmission Line Technical Engineering Group in various industry and regulatory forums.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:
  • Contributing to the Capital Investment Program by drafting project initiation documents, including estimates and scopes.
  • Assisting in the design of transmission lines using specialized software.
  • Developing technical details for siting and permitting, including public presentations.
  • Overseeing design specifications and material lists for procurement.
  • Documenting newly constructed Transmission Line facilities.
  • Reviewing inspections related to vaults and other facilities to support project initiation.

Support for Maintenance and Operations:
The role also includes:
  • Assisting in the investigation of disturbance reports related to transmission facilities.
  • Providing engineering analysis to support the maintenance and operation of Transmission Line facilities.
  • Evaluating external uses of Eversource rights-of-way against established standards.
  • Analyzing data on Transmission Line asset conditions and offering technical recommendations.
  • Collaborating with various internal departments to provide guidance on transmission facilities.
  • Managing the spare parts program to ensure material availability.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A strong understanding of civil, structural, and electrical engineering concepts related to Transmission Lines.
  • Familiarity with construction techniques and relevant codes.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as PLS-CADD, Microsoft Office, and others.
  • Knowledge of soil mechanics and foundation design principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial documents.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required, preferably in Civil Engineering. An advanced degree or relevant certifications are advantageous. No prior experience is necessary for this entry-level position, though experience in the electric utility sector is preferred.

Working Conditions:
The role may require:
  • Availability for emergency assignments as needed.
  • Travel between various states as necessary.
  • A valid driver's license for travel purposes.
