Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineering Intern/Co-op to join our team at Zoox. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on building large-scale data pipelines and data entities, collaborating with data scientists and analysts to improve data accessibility, and participating in data quality assurance and validation processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to support efficient decision making
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to improve data accessibility and quality
  • Participate in data quality assurance and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Assist in optimizing database performance and structure to meet business needs
  • Help document data architectures and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and reuse
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Applied Science, or a related field
  • Proficient in SQL and one of the programming languages (e.g., Python, Java)
  • Familiar with Python data processing frameworks (e.g., Pandas, NumPy)
  • Understanding of Data Architecture and Data lake/warehouse concepts
  • Familiar with data modeling and data ETL pipelines and orchestration
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Looker)
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts
  • Previous internship or project experience in data-related fields
Compensation

The monthly salary range for this position is $6,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on role, degree level, and type, and benefits will be offered based on eligibility. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, 401k, and a housing stipend.
