Overview:

The Chief of Individual Philanthropy will collaborate closely with the Development Director to craft and execute the strategy for the annual fundraising campaign and major donor engagement, with the goal of securing between $12M and $15M each year for the operational needs and special initiatives of the organization. This position requires working in partnership with colleagues throughout the organization and leading a team of six dedicated professionals.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF), founded in 1935 in Ashland, OR, has grown into a prominent theatre arts institution recognized nationally for its rotating repertory of up to 10 plays and musicals, featuring a mix of Shakespearean works, classic literature, and contemporary pieces. OSF's productions have been presented on Broadway and internationally, making it one of the largest nonprofit theatres in the United States, boasting three performance venues, including the renowned outdoor Allen Elizabethan Theatre.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement annual fundraising strategies targeting individual donors.
  • Engage both new and existing donors through research, personal outreach, and collaboration with OSF leadership.
  • Identify and cultivate potential donors while managing relationships with major contributors.
  • Coordinate fundraising strategies and donor portfolios with the Major Gifts team.
  • Oversee the Annual Fund campaign and related fundraising events.
  • Work with senior staff and various departments to ensure cohesive development messaging.
  • Track progress towards fundraising objectives and provide updates to senior management.
  • Support fundraising initiatives at the board level.
  • Advise on strategies for achieving long-term fundraising goals.

Requirements:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience: 7-10 years of experience in fundraising, ideally within nonprofit organizations.

Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management abilities; familiarity with the philanthropic landscape; capacity to inspire and motivate others; a genuine passion for the arts.

Physical Requirements: No specific physical requirements.

Work Schedule: Flexibility for weekend and evening hours may be necessary.

Compensation: Annual salary range of $102,000 to $105,000.
