The Opportunity

We're seeking a seasoned Manager, Life/Health/Retirement Income to join our Life Company Retirement Income Team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for managing a team of specialists who understand our members' health, life, or retirement income needs and provide tailored solutions. You'll motivate your team towards goal attainment, develop employees through regular coaching and feedback, and execute process improvements to drive results.

This role requires a flexible work environment, with a requirement to be in the office 4 days a week. The position will be based in San Antonio, TX, and relocation assistance is not available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and oversee a team through recruiting, developing, retaining, coaching, guiding, performance management, and managerial activities.
  • Ensure employees understand how their tasks support organizational goals.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness in Life, Health, or Retirement Income.
  • Implement and monitor processes and performance standards for Life, Health, or Retirement Income.
  • Provide feedback for improvements to process and product owners within Life Company.
  • Remove obstacles and champion change.
  • Achieve optimal productivity through managing workload volumes, staffing, training needs, and identifying and implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the competitive landscape, financial services industry trends, changes in technology, regulations, and/or other industry events that may impact operational functions and processes.
  • Develop required operational tools and processes, including workflow development, systems enhancements, and selection of other technical resources needed.
  • May fulfill the responsibilities of a securities principal, providing research and documentation support for regulatory authority inquiries and audits.
  • Respond to executive complaints as necessary.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • May be required to have the ability to obtain Life/Health license and any required Carrier appointments within 90 days of job entry.
  • RETIREMENT INCOME ONLY: Required maintenance of FINRA Series 7, 66 (or 63 and 65), 24, and 51 (or 53), and/or attainment within 90 days of job entry.
  • 6 or more years of related experience in financial services operations, including process improvement.
  • 2 or more years direct team lead or management experience providing coaching, development, and/or leadership in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial products and services relevant to life or health insurance or retirement income.
