Financial Operations Leadership

The University of Texas at Arlington seeks a highly skilled Senior Financial Operations Manager to provide advanced administrative and managerial functions for Business Affairs, including Accounting Services, Payroll Services, Grant Accounting, Procurement, Disbursements, and Financial Reporting.

This role will provide day-to-day direction, guidance, and policy information for financial operations and university decision-makers, ensuring compliance with acceptable accounting principles, applicable University policies, and local, state, and federal requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent relevant experience, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial operations, compliance, and financial systems management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing oversight and leadership in the activities of the accounting, payroll, financial reporting, disbursement, and procurement functions of the university.
  • Responsible for the salaries and budgeting for all departments in these areas.
  • Providing oversight of the maintenance of the University's financial records.
  • Providing oversight of the preparation of various financial reports, including the Annual Financial Report.
  • Providing management with timely reviews of the university's financial status.
  • Overseeing external, internal, and other third-party audits.
  • Providing oversight, leadership, and guidance for university procurement and contract management and Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) program.
  • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of appropriate internal control systems.
  • Participating in University and campus community relations by representing the department at meetings and serving on committees as needed.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills, customer-oriented, and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population. A CPA and/or Master's degree is preferred, along with current knowledge of NACUBO, federal, and state rules and legislation concerning higher education, and experience with PeopleSoft finance and human resource systems.
