Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optometrist to serve as the Chief of Optometry in our Eye Care Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of optometric programs and services, ensuring the highest quality patient care and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of optometric programs and services, ensuring alignment with VA and VHA goals and objectives.
  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight to optometrists and other healthcare professionals, ensuring high-quality patient care and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in optometry and vision care, applying this knowledge to improve patient outcomes and services.
  • Develop and manage budgets, resources, and personnel to ensure efficient and effective delivery of optometric services.
  • Represent the Eye Care Service and VA at local, regional, and national levels, promoting the importance of optometric care and services.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure to practice optometry in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • At least 5 years of experience in optometry, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Excellent clinical and leadership skills, with a strong ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to quality patient care and outcomes.
