Job Summary

The Child Development Specialist will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating classroom curriculum in accordance with the purpose and philosophy of RESURRECTION LUTHERAN CHURCH.

This role requires a strong understanding of early childhood education principles and the ability to create a safe and engaging learning environment for children.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work collaboratively with colleagues, and maintain a professional culture in the school and classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement policies in accordance with the purpose of RESURRECTION LUTHERAN CHURCH and the mission of the Church.
  • Maintain and model a professional culture in the school and classroom.
  • Keep up-to-date developmental records of children in the class.
  • Keep up-to-date attendance/illness/accident records of children in the class.
  • Plan, implement, and post a weekly written plan of daily class activities.
  • Set up and maintain an appropriate classroom environment.
  • Provide annual written assessments to Director/parents on children's progress.
  • Provide written guidelines for substitutes.
  • Give guidance and direction to teacher assistants and volunteers.
  • Be aware of and comply with all state regulations, personnel policies of RLC and RLCDC.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and functions of RLCDC.
  • Maintain the required continuing education profile of 18 units per year in the appropriate subject areas.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of 12 credit hours of post-secondary instruction in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 months of work experience in a state licensed early childhood program.
  • Possession of or willingness to obtain a fingerprint clearance card with a clean report.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible, willing, and collaborative attitude.
  • Understand and utilize multiple classroom management techniques.

Working Conditions:

The Child Development Specialist will work primarily in RLCDC classrooms and playground and occasionally on the RLC campus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Able to get up and down from floor.
  • Able to walk up and down stairs.
