Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities:


Deliver engineering and consulting services across various projects, including structural design for new and existing buildings; investigating structural and material failures; conducting condition assessments; and performing analytical studies. You will also analyze and design for the rehabilitation of historic and existing structures, as well as prepare structural shop drawings for specialty structures.


Engage closely with a diverse range of clients, including Architects, Landscape Architects, Civil Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Owners of Private and Public Companies, Local and State Government entities, Educational Institutions, Cultural Organizations, Real Estate Developers, General Contractors, and Subcontractors.


Provide design expertise to oversee the preparation of construction documents relevant to various projects within this office.


Develop and draft proposals for Professional Services that detail the scope of services, fee structures, and project timelines.

Prepare and compose reports that maintain a professional tone with a coherent presentation of technical concepts and recommendations.

Lead a team of multi-disciplinary building engineering professionals, including junior to senior staff. Coordinate personnel, equipment, and technical experts across the organization to ensure project completion within set schedules and budgetary constraints.

Supervise and mentor junior and less-experienced Facilities Professionals to enhance their skills in structural services.

Actively participate in one or more technical/professional associations.


Contribute to Group and Office business development initiatives by collaborating with existing clients to secure additional work and by developing new client relationships.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working safely in challenging environments, including crawlspaces, suspended scaffolding, vertical heights, and mid- to high-rise building facades and roofs.


Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize observations, conclusions, and work requirements effectively in both text and drawings.

Detail-oriented with robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Prior experience with industry-standard analytical and drafting tools is preferred. Proficiency in Revit is highly desirable.

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

A minimum of 9 years of experience.

A Master's degree in Engineering is preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) registration, transferable by comity to Virginia.

A valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certification:
Authorized Project Reviewer status.
