Position Overview:
The American Vacuum Society Inc is seeking qualified candidates for two postdoctoral research roles focused on computational and theoretical materials physics.
Research Focus:
The selected candidates will engage in cutting-edge research in areas including but not limited to:
1. In-depth analysis of the kinetics involved in solid-solid phase transitions.
2. First-principles methodologies for the design and identification of high-entropy materials suitable for energy and electronic applications.
3. Creation of innovative, transferable machine learning models aimed at the rapid and precise prediction of material characteristics.
Additional emergent topics in materials research may also be pursued.
Collaboration:
The roles will require close collaboration with experimental researchers, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to materials science.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a strong background in Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations and should hold (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in computational materials physics or a related discipline. Experience in machine learning, proficiency in Python programming, and a solid understanding of thermodynamics and defects in solids will be highly advantageous.
Skills:
