General Overview

The Transit Operations Specialist is responsible for providing specialized operational support to the Transit Department. Under the guidance of the Transit Coordinator, this role includes overseeing daily transit activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and managing data verification processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in supervising third-party contractor operations to ensure adherence to contracts and regulations, documenting any non-compliance.
  • Verify daily fare collections, including cash, tickets, and vouchers, and ensure accurate reporting of financial transactions.
  • Conduct ridership verification tasks, analyzing trip activities, bus mileage, and billing accuracy.
  • Maintain and update databases related to transit operations, ensuring accurate reporting for compliance with federal standards.
  • Provide customer support through various channels, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints effectively.
  • Utilize RouteMatch software for dispatching and scheduling, especially in emergency situations.
  • Represent the transit system professionally in all interactions with stakeholders, including customers and external agencies.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and training materials for transit operations.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of grant applications and budgets.
  • Perform financial record-keeping tasks related to accounts receivable and payable.
  • Report any incidents or accidents in accordance with established protocols.
  • Facilitate meetings and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
