Job Summary

M.I.N.D is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality medical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and patients with basic medical needs in preparation for examination.
  • Review physician schedules to ensure coordination of patients' needs and appointment necessity.
  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain medical information and vital signs, and update charts as needed.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance regarding patient information, testing, prescriptions, and medical documentation.
  • Assist physicians with examination and treatment, providing additional materials as needed.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Consult with patients' insurance carriers to obtain pre-authorization for drug refills and testing.
  • Apply knowledge of sterile techniques and OSHA regulations.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Oversee and ensure efficient turnover of exam rooms, keeping them neat and clean.
  • Schedule appointments for patients and return with appointment cards.
  • Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission.
  • Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, faxing, and scanning.
  • Re-stock exam/treatment rooms and inventory and order medical, lab, office supplies, and equipment.
Requirements
  • Related responsibilities and minimum experience of 1-2 years in a medical assistant position.
  • Certification preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment

This position operates in a medical office facility and requires the ability to work in a team environment. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain confidentiality, work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
