The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is actively seeking a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dedicated Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

  • The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team comprises Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) who deliver comprehensive care for pediatric patients with complex medical and surgical conditions, including those recovering from cardiothoracic surgeries and transplants.
  • The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) plays a crucial role in diagnosing and managing patient care in collaboration with physician colleagues.
  • Continuity of care is maintained by the Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) through effective communication and coordination among the healthcare team, patients, and their families.
  • The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) integrates relevant research findings and best practices into patient care.

Qualifications

  • A Master of Science degree with completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. Must be registered and currently licensed with the Maryland Board of Nursing, holding certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the relevant specialty. A minimum of one year of pediatric nursing experience is required.
  • Physician Assistant candidates must have successfully completed an accredited PA program and obtained a Maryland PA license.
  • CRNP Pediatric Acute Care certification is mandatory.
