Breeding Specialist

This position plays a crucial role in developing innovative vegetable crop products for Sakata Seed America. The successful candidate will work closely with project leaders to design and implement state-of-the-art breeding programs.

• Maintain greenhouse plants for Brassica breeding projects, ensuring optimal growing conditions and controlling pests and diseases.
• Assist with pollination programs, ensuring timely and efficient manipulation of plants.
• Support project leaders in hybrid evaluations and inbred line selections, contributing to the development of high-quality crop products.
• Prepare and package seeds for distribution, maintaining accurate inventory and records.
• Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the breeding program.

• Associate degree in horticulture or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience in horticulture or a related field.
• Excellent manual dexterity, spatial perception, and visual discrimination.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

• Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and humidity.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Willingness to wear personal protective gear when required.
