Job Overview

Rising Sun Children's Center, a STAR 4 high-quality, DHS licensed program, is in search of a dedicated and experienced preschool lead educator who is passionate about nurturing young minds (ages 3-5) in our PHLPreK/PreK Counts Classroom.

Key Responsibilities and Performance Standards

  • Utilize knowledge of child development as the cornerstone of interactions with young learners.
  • Implement effective teaching strategies that incorporate developmentally appropriate practices, along with curricula and PA early learning standards to foster enriching learning experiences.
  • Uphold the mission and philosophy of the organization.
  • Cultivate and sustain respectful and collaborative relationships with families.
  • Exhibit strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Conduct oneself as a professional within the early childhood education field.
  • Assist center staff and leadership in maintaining high-quality standards and achieving enrollment objectives.
  • Familiarize oneself with Keystone STARS standards, DHS regulations, PA Early Learning Standards, and Creative Curriculum.
  • Oversee classroom management and ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times.
  • Lead the overall classroom environment, creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging space for learning.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift children weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Capacity to walk, bend, stand, squat, or sit on the floor (with children) throughout an 8-hour workday.
  • Ability to navigate stairs multiple times daily.
  • Quick physical response capability in emergency situations.
  • Active engagement with children daily, including planning outdoor activities in varying weather conditions, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Awareness of the risks associated with exposure to blood and bodily fluids, employing universal precautions when necessary.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations for field trips or outings, utilizing public transportation or other acceptable means when required.

  • Punctuality and reliability in attendance, with timely communication regarding delays.
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn from feedback.

  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the needs of the program.

Requirements for Pre-K Counts Teacher:

  • Minimum of a BA/BS in Early Childhood Education.
  • Pennsylvania Department of Educational Instructional Certification for Early Childhood Education is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an educational setting.

Requirements for PHL Pre-K Teacher:

  • Minimum of an AA in Early Childhood Education (certification is a plus).
  • At least 1 year of experience in an educational setting.

COVID-19 Considerations:

All candidates must be fully vaccinated. Mask wearing is required at all times when interacting with children. Enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols are in place.
