Key Responsibilities
  • Interview patients to determine medical complaints and document in patient charts
  • Provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients as directed by physicians or other authorized medical personnel
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs and weight

  • Administer hearing/vision tests and EKGs as needed
  • Assist physicians or other practitioners with patient examinations
  • Administer specified medication as directed
  • Maintain medical equipment, exam rooms, and office inventory
  • Perform Medical Records functions, including filing and maintaining patient records
  • Collaborate with Office Manager to order supplies and maintain confidentiality of patient information
Requirements
  • High school diploma and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
  • One-year clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care, occupational health, or emergency department setting
  • Current certification in basic life support
  • Knowledge of nursing/medical assistant patient care tasks, including competency with suture/staple removal, administering medications, interpreting test results, wound care, and patient response
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and experience with Pyramid EMR preferred
