Sonesta Hotels is seeking a skilled Banquet Server to join our team. As a Banquet Server, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive and courteous service to guests, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Set up tables with clean linens, china, silverware, and glassware, as per the menu and chart specifications.
  • Know the menu items to be served and attend meetings prior to the function to clarify any questions regarding timing and service.
  • Proceed with the service as outlined on posted charts and in conjunction with the Banquet Captain.
  • Report all special requests to the Banquet Captain or Banquet Manager, such as food substitutes or a la carte beverage services.
  • Perform side duties as requested by the Banquet Captain and check with the supervisor prior to leaving the property.
  • Be responsible for the proper set-up of each table, ensuring all items are in place, silverware is neatly aligned, and glasses are clean and polished.
  • Refer any guest complaints to the Banquet Captain, Assistant Banquet Manager, or Banquet and Meeting Manager.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must meet city, county, state, or other legal minimum age requirements to sell/serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Must have TABC Certificate.
  • Must have Food Handler Certification.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have proven guest relation skills.
  • Ability to balance heavy trays up to 50 lbs. and carry trays with plates up to 25-30 lbs.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  • Ability to bend, pull, and push.
  • Ability to sustain direct contact with the public and establish a high degree of customer service.
  • Flexibility to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
