Position Overview

The Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is a unique organization dedicated to providing hope and support for troubled youth and their families. We focus on professional care, compassionate expertise, and fostering new opportunities for growth.

Role Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Wellness Specialist to engage in wellness initiatives for the youth we serve. This role can be fulfilled on a full-time or part-time basis.

Work Schedule: Weekday evenings and alternating weekends, approximately 24 hours weekly, with potential for additional hours.

Key Responsibilities

The Wellness Specialist will be responsible for implementing the wellness program, which includes:

  • Encouraging youth participation in physical activities, exploring hobbies, and developing essential skills.
  • Collaborating with youth to identify interests both within and outside of treatment.
  • Planning, preparing, and executing activities with youth, whether in group settings or individually, on or off-campus.

Continuous Improvement: You will evaluate programs, participate in training, and adopt new practices to enhance care for our youth and families.

  • Assist in executing wellness programs such as fitness activities, gardening, and summer initiatives as directed.
  • Support the achievement of wellness goals through individualized sessions with youth.
  • Document progress using designated tracking forms and notes.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a background check, including criminal and motor vehicle records.
  • Valid state driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • Experience working with youth or completion of required training.
  • Preference for candidates with a degree or certification in Physical Education, Personal Training, or related fields.
  • Equine experience is a plus.
