Job Summary

As a Medical Technologist/Technician at Riverview Health, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results. Your primary responsibility will be to follow laboratory policies and procedures, including specimen handling, quality control, and instrument maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and supervisors to ensure accurate test ordering, specimen integrity, and timely results reporting.
  • Evaluate specimen adequacy, perform analytic tests, and adhere to quality control policies and procedures.
  • Perform instrument maintenance, troubleshoot quality control problems, and document all quality control activities.
  • Correlate data, monitor test performance, and recognize critical test results.
  • Investigate pending, delayed, or recollected specimens and communicate with coworkers.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate supply inventory and follow laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Use personal protective equipment and demonstrate behaviors listed in the Standards of Excellence.
  • Comply with all applicable policies and procedures, including safety and waste disposal.
Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science in a chemical, physical, or biological science, with at least one year of full-time laboratory training or experience.
  • Meet the requirements of Testing Personnel under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act '88 (CLIA).
  • Minimum of one year of general or specific technical experience in areas such as Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Serology, Urinalysis, and/or Transfusion Medicine.
  • MLT (ASCP or AMT) certification, with the ability to obtain MT/MLS (ASCP or AMT) certification within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience in the above areas.
