Job Summary

This position is an exciting opportunity to join the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration team as a Psychiatrist in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP). As a key member of our mental health team, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and treatment to veterans suffering from depression, anxiety, psychosis, PTSD, substance abuse, and other psychiatric disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, including assessment and psychotherapeutic techniques, to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Perform psychiatric evaluations for a diverse population of patients, including males, females, geriatric, and post-deployment combat veterans.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic interventions to address the complex needs of our patients, including those with homelessness, unemployment, and poor family support networks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care and participate in treatment planning conferences.
  • Order diagnostic tests and consultations, and make informed treatment decisions based on findings.
  • Ensure that psychiatric practice is consistent with Joint Commission, CARF, VA policies, and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Participate in supervision and teaching of psychiatry residents and other trainees, and provide leadership guidance and consultation to staff.
Requirements
  • United States citizenship
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
  • Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States
  • Residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
