About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Field Tech I to join our team at Nexus Water Group. As a Field Tech I, you will be responsible for accurately reading and recording water meters, identifying equipment problems, and performing minor maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of meter readings and customer interactions.
  • Document customer interactions and field activities in our customer relationship management system.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and customer service personnel to resolve issues and answer questions.
  • Provide on-site customer communication and respond to customer inquiries regarding meter reading schedules, billing, and other customer service matters.
  • Assist with maintaining mechanical, electrical, and piping systems for area water and wastewater facilities, collections, and distribution systems.
  • Perform minor meter maintenance and repair duties, including walking miles per day to read meters and record volume used by residential and commercial customers.
  • Determine consistency of meter readings and report unusual cases of water usage to supervisors.
  • Inspect meters and connections for defects, damage, and unauthorized connections, and ensure meters are registering properly.
  • Turn off service for non-payment of charges in vacant premises or on for new occupants.
  • Assist with ordering parts and job costing, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of mechanical work experience required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Water meter reading experience preferred.
  • May be in process of obtaining Distribution and/or Collections Systems certificate or first-level plant operating license.
