Job SummaryThe Engineering Lab Manager is responsible for ensuring that all engineering laboratory equipment is fully operational and safe for use. This role involves conducting regular inspections, performing maintenance, and making recommendations for upgrades or new equipment. The manager may also oversee staff and student assistants.
Key Responsibilities1. Ensure that all engineering lab equipment is functioning properly before lab sessions commence.
2. Supervise staff and student assistants tasked with inspecting and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment.
3. Conduct inspections and adjustments on mechanical and mechatronic systems.
4. Perform preventive and general maintenance services.
5. Manage procurement of lab materials and maintain vendor relationships.
6. Collaborate with faculty and students on fabrication projects using advanced machinery.
7. Provide training on lab equipment usage to students and staff.
8. Conduct routine inspections of engineering systems and equipment.
9. Monitor safety protocols and maintain operational logs for equipment.
10. Implement and oversee safety measures in all engineering labs.
Educational Requirements: Associate's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
Experience: Minimum of five years in a related role, including supervisory experience.
Certifications: Welding, CNC machining, or related fields.
Education: Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
Experience: Background in fabrication, manufacturing, or maintenance.
Abilities: Eagerness to learn new maintenance protocols and manage multiple projects effectively.
Knowledge: Familiarity with mechanical and electrical lab equipment.
Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; proficiency in relevant software applications.
