Position Summary:

The Universal Banker I fulfills a dual role, encompassing the responsibilities of both a Teller and an Account Specialist. This position is pivotal in delivering exceptional customer experiences to both existing and prospective clients. Individuals in this role must exhibit a comprehensive understanding of all banking products and services. A positive demeanor, effective communication skills, and a strong work ethic are essential attributes for the Universal Banker.

Key Responsibilities:

Teller Responsibilities:

  • Process deposits and loan payments
  • Cash checks, facilitate savings withdrawals, and manage Savings Bonds
  • Handle change orders for commercial clients
  • Record and process night drop and mail deposits
  • Issue cashier's checks and gift cards
  • Manage online transfers
  • Balance cash drawer, vault, and ATM
  • Process coins through the coin counter
  • Facilitate customer access to Safe Deposit Boxes
  • Process and balance teller capture
  • Verify new account entries in the core system
  • Assist customers with stop payments, outgoing collections, address modifications, etc.
  • Order and accept foreign currency
  • Review weekly non-customer lists for compliance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Account Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Open and prepare documentation for new and revised accounts
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all products and services
  • Process check orders
  • Reconcile accounts and prepare reports
  • Manage safe-deposit duties
  • Draft account correspondence
  • Assist clients with inquiries and issues
  • Provide Notary Services
  • Prepare documentation for fraudulent activities as necessary
  • Conduct PIN changes, increase limits, and issue debit cards
  • Close accounts as required
  • Process stop payments
  • Manage dormant account releases
  • Document scanning
  • Facilitate wire transfers
  • Assist clients with electronic banking inquiries
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
  • Ability to manage large volumes of currency with precision and speed
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent typing proficiency
  • Capability to obtain a Notary Public Commission
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Understanding of various deposit account types and relevant regulations
  • Banking experience is preferred but not mandatory
