Job Overview:

The role of a student tutor involves assisting and guiding fellow students to enhance their learning capabilities and foster independence in their academic journey. Tutors play a crucial role in integrating effective study techniques and learning strategies while clarifying course content and assignments.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Ability to operate with minimal oversight.
Capacity to uphold confidentiality.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide tutoring in specific academic subjects to individuals or small groups.
2. Monitor and document students' attendance and academic progress.
3. Communicate student progress effectively.
4. Refer students to supervisors when necessary.
5. Encourage and support independent learning.
6. Organize meetings and schedules with tutees as needed.
7. Complete data entry tasks using the required database software.
8. Participate in initial training programs to develop teaching techniques and learning skills, along with ongoing training sessions as required.
9. Attend staff meetings.

Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program (minimum of 6 credits for undergraduates, 9 credits for graduates). Maintain good academic standing (preferred minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0) and demonstrate success in the course being tutored. Must also have good conduct standing and successfully complete the online student employee application.

Salary Range:

$10.00

Work Environment:

Not required to work in noisy areas (above 85 decibels).

Physical Requirements:

Not required to exert up to 10 pounds or more.

Travel Requirements:

No travel required.
