Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist RNs with daily patient care, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Measure and document patient data, such as blood pressures, temperatures, and intake/output.
  • Perform purposeful rounding and promptly communicate patient observations and concerns to RNs.
  • Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes, including room setup and patient orientation.
  • Collect and process patient specimens, perform point-of-care testing, and maintain competency as required.
  • Complete various errands, maintain stock, and clean equipment and work areas.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and assistive devices.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide certification in good standing with the State Registry.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills and excellent communication skills.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.

Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines and have functional vision and hearing. Exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids on a continuous basis.
