Position Overview
The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is seeking a part-time, skilled Pilates Class Leader. This role involves guiding both novice and seasoned participants through safe and effective group sessions.
Objective
Our wellness initiatives aim to support members in adopting healthier lifestyles, enhancing self-esteem, and fostering regular participation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts engaging, enjoyable, and educational group sessions, as directed by management, to fulfill the YMCA's mission and objectives.
- Provides assistance to members by addressing their inquiries related to health and fitness goals.
- Maintains an up-to-date understanding of wellness trends to offer relevant information and guidance to members.
- Establishes genuine relationships with members, facilitating connections among them and with the YMCA community.
- Regularly inspects all equipment to ensure it is well-maintained and clean, including setting up and dismantling equipment as needed.
- Keeps precise attendance records for classes.
- Adheres to YMCA policies and procedures, responding appropriately to emergency situations.
- Takes personal responsibility for safety, ensuring the well-being of both oneself and program participants.
- Administers emergency first aid when necessary and completes incident reports as required.
- Promotes and embodies the values of all YMCA programs.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certifications needed: CPR, First Aid, AED, and a national certification in group fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
- Pilates Instructor Certification is mandatory.
- Ability to effectively communicate and instruct participants on proper exercise techniques.
- Current knowledge of exercise class structure, cueing techniques, and creative choreography.
- Preferred: Minimum of one year experience in teaching group wellness classes.
- Physical endurance and agility for extended periods are essential.
Compensation
Hourly wage ranges from $17 to $24, based on experience and certifications.
