St. Thomas More Catholic Academy in Washington DC is seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to fill a long-term substitute teacher position for the intermediate and middle grades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the academic growth and development of students in the intermediate and middle grades.
  • Display a strong understanding of multiple subject areas and a willingness to learn and adapt to the curriculum.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive attitude towards student learning and personal growth.
  • Take responsibility for the well-being and safety of learners, while advocating for their needs and interests.
  • Efficiently manage classroom activities and operations, while utilizing technology to enhance student learning.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of teaching methods and strategies for students in the intermediate and middle grades.
  • Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities, to help them achieve their educational objectives.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, to work with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies, internet and email systems, as well as word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software.
  • Knowledge of technology and its use in instruction to enhance student learning.
