Job Summary

The University of California, Davis Health is seeking a skilled Angiography Technologist to join our team in the Department of Radiology. As a critical member of our imaging team, you will be responsible for operating equipment in various angiography suites, assisting radiologists in the performance of neuro and vascular procedures, and preparing patients for exams while adhering to aseptic and sterile techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment in various angiography suites
  • Assist radiologists in the performance of neuro and vascular procedures
  • Prepare patients for exams while adhering to aseptic and sterile techniques
  • Perform and/or assist with routine diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures
  • Assist in maintaining a smooth operational flow and maximum patient volume
  • Scrubs in and assist the physician during procedures, circulates within the procedure room, and procures equipment needed for procedures
  • Positions patients, selects radiation exposure parameters, and images patients
  • Utilizes CT and US equipment to assist radiologists with procedures
  • Maintains a high degree of accuracy and awareness of radiation and patient safety issues
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding and working knowledge of normal anatomy, abnormal anatomy, and physiology, radiation safety, interventional supplies, and equipment operation
  • Recognizes and resolves equipment operations, problems, and discrepancies
  • Anticipates patient needs and concerns and determines the appropriate care needed
  • Uses professional judgment and critical thinking when performing procedures
  • Performs calmly in stressful situations and interacts with radiologists, clinicians, and peers in a cooperative and harmonious manner
Requirements
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
  • Valid CA Fluoroscopy Permit
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Knowledge and ability to operate radiology equipment, such as radiographic/fluoroscopic machines, Interventional Radiology equipment, associated surgical equipment, CT & US equipment, and auxiliary equipment to provide quality images
  • Ability to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as the radiological field advances
  • Ability to assist healthcare practitioners during surgery or other sterile procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
  • Knowledge of standard keyboard and ability to input/retrieve data accurately
  • Ability to operate Epic, Visage, PACS, Excel, Word, and other systems for documentation activities and report generation
  • Competent in archiving, retrieving, and exceptions handling with the PACS system
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records and information
  • Ability to establish a good rapport and professional working relationship with all department personnel

Work Environment

The Department of Radiology is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation providing imaging services to adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients.

This is a critical position, as defined by UC policy and local procedures, and as such, employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check(s), including but not limited to criminal record history background check(s).

This position is designated as a mandated reporter under CANRA and UC policy, and employment is contingent on compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and training requirements.
