Job Summary:

The Sourcing Manager is a key member of our team at Growing company via The Walstrom Group, Inc., responsible for overseeing the company's sourcing activities from initial supplier selection and qualification to the successful on-time delivery of quality products. This role requires a strategic thinker who can analyze the company's spending and supply partnerships to identify opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Sourcing Strategy: Develop and articulate a rolling 3-year sourcing strategy, targeting suppliers, supply countries of origin, and pricing targets.
  • Cost Management: Understand all factors impacting total landed cost and lead by example in thoughts and actions, perceived as a partner by internal peers and customers.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Maintain relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors via networks, EXPOs, webinars, etc.
  • Quality and Delivery: Constantly evaluate ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the cost and timeliness of deliveries.
  • Contract Management: Work closely with the company legal department to ensure contracts and terms are favorable and maintained.
  • Communication and Negotiation: Responsible for communications and negotiations with suppliers, monitoring their performance and assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct cost analyses and set benchmarks for improvement, negotiating prices for raw materials and delivery with suppliers.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise a sourcing team and delegate tasks when necessary, train and mentor employees, and participate as an active member of the product development team.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a supply chain, financial, or engineering curriculum preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years' experience in supply chain management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, strong supervisory or leadership skills, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, thorough understanding of company products and supply chain logistics, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgment, strong project management and leadership skills, ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships, solid judgment with the ability to make good decisions.
