About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Personal Financial Counselor to join our team at The Bowen Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing financial education and counseling services to Service Members and their families affiliated with specific Navy Operational Support Centers, the National Guard, Reserve, and Active Duty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Education and Counseling: Provide personalized financial planning and counseling services to Service Members and their families, helping them to achieve financial stability and security.
  • Financial Planning and Goal Setting: Teach Service Members and their families how to set and achieve financial goals, including saving for emergencies, retirement, and long-term objectives.
  • Credit and Debt Management: Educate Service Members and their families on the importance of maintaining excellent credit histories and ratings, and provide guidance on managing debt and avoiding financial burdens.
  • Financial Literacy and Education: Facilitate briefings and workshops on various personal finance topics, including budgeting, saving, and investing.
  • Outreach and Engagement: Perform outreach and engage with Service Members and their families to promote financial awareness and education.
Requirements
  • Education: High School or equivalent
  • Work Experience: Three (3) years' experience in training development and delivery, public speaking, group presentations, and facilitation skills, preferably in adult education, medical or non-medical setting.
  • Certification: Possess a national certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) OR Certified Financial Planner (CFP) OR Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and maintain CEU's and remain current on annual accreditation renewals.
Industry Knowledge
  • Military Experience: Previous military experience (including military spouses and/or as a service provider).
  • Understanding of Military Benefits: Knowledge of military benefits, resources, and services.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience in utilizing MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Additional Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Reliable Transportation: Have reliable transportation and proof of vehicle insurance and registration.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: In accordance with our government client's regulations, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 10% including some weekends with advanced notice.
