GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
This role is pivotal in fulfilling the College's dedication to creating a welcoming and accessible environment for a diverse student body. Financial Aid Consultants are tasked with guiding students through the various resources available to support their educational pursuits. This position demands a high level of independent judgment, initiative, organization, and problem-solving capabilities. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and staff to ensure students have the necessary resources to achieve their academic goals while also providing education and outreach.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.
  • Develop personalized financing plans for students: assist in navigating the financial aid process, identify financial resources, and support academic planning.
  • Provide tailored support and skill development related to financial aid and academic planning, referring students to appropriate resources.
  • Monitor student progress and teach essential financial literacy skills and requirements for academic success.
  • Empower students with problem-solving skills to foster academic and financial independence.
  • Consult with faculty and staff regarding financial considerations affecting students.
  • Support staff with financial aid inquiries.
  • Assist in processing financial aid documentation.
  • Help manage calls to the Student Services Call Center as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of degree audits to assess student academic progress.
  • Create and deliver informative presentations on financial aid processes and regulations.
  • May assist with Professional Judgment determinations regarding financial aid eligibility.
  • Advise students on enrollment policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

This position involves working in an office environment, requiring occasional standing, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Frequent activities include reaching and close visual work, while constant activities involve sitting, walking, repetitive motions, talking, and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field
  • One year of experience in financial aid
  • One year of full-time experience in higher education
