About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Personal Financial Counselor to join our team at The Bowen Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing financial education and counseling services to Service Members and their families affiliated with specific Navy Operational Support Centers, the National Guard, Reserve, and Active Duty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Education and Counseling: Provide personalized financial planning and counseling services to Service Members and their families, helping them to achieve financial stability and security.
  • Financial Planning and Goal Setting: Work with clients to identify their financial goals and develop tailored plans to achieve them, including reducing debt, increasing income, and building savings.
  • Money Management and Budgeting: Teach Service Members and their families effective money management techniques, including budgeting, saving, and investing.
  • Credit and Debt Management: Educate clients on the importance of maintaining excellent credit histories and ratings, and provide guidance on managing debt and avoiding financial pitfalls.
  • Financial Literacy and Education: Develop and deliver financial education programs and workshops to Service Members and their families, covering topics such as financial planning, budgeting, and credit management.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with government officials, network with Service Members, and establish relationships with community organizations to provide comprehensive support to clients.
Requirements
  • Education: High School or equivalent
  • Experience: Three (3) years' experience in training development and delivery, public speaking, group presentations, and facilitation skills, preferably in adult education, medical or non-medical setting.
  • Certification: Possess a national certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) OR Certified Financial Planner (CFP) OR Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and maintain CEU's and remain current on annual accreditation renewals.
Industry Knowledge and Skills
  • Military Experience: Previous military experience (including military spouses and/or as a service provider)
  • Financial Knowledge: Understanding of military benefits, resources, and services, as well as knowledge of financial planning and management principles.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
