Fire Protection Project Manager and Designer

Western States Fire Protection is seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Project Manager and Designer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and project managing fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and coordinate fire sprinkler systems using AutoSPRINK, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Revit 3D design software.
- Review construction contract documents and coordinate with sub-contractors and General Contractor/owner to gather the required information to design the project's sprinkler system.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and create stock lists for all materials required throughout the project.
- Mentor and assist in training new designers and project managers.
- Develop initial schedules for preliminary project work and maintain design historical records.
- Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure company is meeting customers' expectations.
- Coordinate with other departments within the office to ensure proper handover of job information.
- Conduct long-range project planning and scheduling, and monitor and manage projects to comply with safety, quality, productivity, and profitability requirements.
- Directly manage field labor force of assigned project to assure maximum productivity.
- Track employee hours and crew mix rates for each project, and ensure proper staffing is in place on each project.
- Identify changes in projects that impact cost, schedule, or labor requirements, and make sure change orders/change estimates are completed in a timely manner.
- Prepare and monitor project billings for accuracy and maintenance of a positive cash flow.
- Continually monitor progress of projects, review reports to ensure compliance with schedule and budgetary guidelines, and assist/lead during field check stage of the project.
- Forecast future manpower requirements, oversee work of subcontractors, and ensure work complies with codes and permits.
- Administer construction contracts, approve work quality and payment requests, and report to owner and general contractor about progress and any necessary modifications required.
- Recommend improvements in project management procedures and overall company business practices.
Requirements:
- Engineering (ME, EE, IE, CE) or Construction Management degree or applicable other degree from a technical school or college is preferred.
- NICET certification Level III or IV or P.E. in Fire Protection.
- Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD, AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or other specialized fire sprinkler layout software.
- Extensive construction knowledge.
- Proven ability and track record of performing work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines.
- Minimum of four years successful construction industry experience with knowledge of Fire Protection industry.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Self-motivated individual.
- Critical thinking and detail-oriented.
- Ability to coordinate and work well with others.
- Excellent communication skills-written and verbal.
- Ability to regularly travel overnight, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check.
