Position Summary

Idaho State University is in search of a visionary and dynamic leader to fulfill the role of Chief Advancement Officer. This critical position reports directly to the President and entails close collaboration with university leadership to advance ISU's mission. The Chief Advancement Officer also holds the title of Executive Vice President of the Idaho State University Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to fostering robust support and engagement from alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and foundations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary guidance for all fundraising and advancement initiatives, ensuring alignment with ISU's strategic objectives.
  2. Campaign Development: Lead the planning and execution of a comprehensive fundraising campaign, motivating staff, volunteers, and supporters to enhance ISU's impact.
  3. Donor Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, actively engaging major gift prospects to secure significant contributions.
  4. Presidential Support: Support the President in donor engagement efforts, managing interactions with major prospects and providing strategic insights.
  5. External Representation: Serve as a passionate ambassador for ISU, representing the university at various events and engagements.
  6. Collaboration: Coordinate advancement activities with deans, departments, students, and other stakeholders to foster a culture of philanthropy.
  7. Proposal Development: Oversee the creation and presentation of proposals, ensuring effective stewardship and reporting.
  8. Alumni Relations: Collaborate with the ISU Alumni Association to enhance alumni engagement and build a global network of advocates.
  9. Team Development: Inspire and lead the advancement team, promoting a collaborative environment and prioritizing professional growth.
  10. Financial Management: Direct the preparation and management of the division's annual budget, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  11. Additional Duties: Undertake special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the President.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 10 years of advancement experience, particularly in higher education.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of motivating teams.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with diverse groups.
  • Deep knowledge of fundraising strategies and effective prospect management.
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to inspire others.
  • Strong understanding of public higher education values.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree.
  • Experience in public higher education institutions.
  • Demonstrated success in executing comprehensive fundraising campaigns.
