The Role:

We are in search of a Data Journalist (Polling Analyst) to enhance our publishing operations. This hybrid role merges editorial and analytical responsibilities, focusing on the evaluation of Ranker's highly engaged votable content, which has accumulated over 1.2 billion votes.

At Ranker, we aim to emulate the Gallup Poll for topics that typically go unpolled. Your role will involve strategizing and executing content creation while leveraging your expertise in pop culture and analytical skills to uncover results that warrant further exploration. You will not only craft compelling content but also scrutinize the outcomes of millions of votes each month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand Ranker's polling methodologies and identify trending topics.
  • Develop engaging angles that align with Ranker's distinctive format.
  • Produce captivating content that resonates with our audience.

Ideal Candidate:

To thrive in this position, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in digital media.
  • A Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, film, or a related field.
  • Editorial experience with a focus on pop culture (entertainment, TV, film, music is advantageous).
  • Experience or training in a polling environment.
  • A strong aptitude for statistics with relevant experience.
  • A passion for pop culture.
  • A proven track record in story development.
  • Exceptional copywriting, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in photo editing, web analytics, content management systems, and social media publishing.
  • A capacity to excel in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities.
  • The ability to navigate a data-driven digital publishing landscape.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of Facebook audience development and SEO optimization.
